How old does my child have to be in order to register for Summer Camp?

Interior Health Childcare Licensing requires children attending Summer Camp must be at least five-years-old and have completed kindergarten (going into Grade 1 in September) in order to register for camp. Our system is computerized and will not allow younger children to be registered for summer camp if they do not meet our minimum age.

Camp Weather Safety:

What happens to field trips when there is poor weather or smoke in the air?

For the safety of our staff and all summer camp participants, we have policies regarding weather and air quality.

We monitor hot weather conditions and require hats, sunscreen, and water bottles when we are outside. We also limit the time outdoors when the temperature is above 30C. If the outdoor temperature is 35C or higher, we stay indoors.

We will cancel outdoor water activities such as swimming at Brocklehurst Outdoor Pool if there is a thunderstorm in the weather forecast.

We will stay indoors if the air quality is poor due to wildfire smoke or other factors. If the air quality is at a 7 or higher, we keep everyone inside. This includes not playing outdoors on the playground or going on outdoor field trips.
