Weekday Drop-in
Nights Alive

NIGHTS ALIVE

Nights Alive is a drug, alcohol and harassment-free place for youth between 13 and 21 years old to participate in a variety of activities in a safe and welcoming environment. Youth have access to resources and supplies, pool tables, a big-screen TV with movies and games, an open gym, a kitchen, art supplies, and more!
 

Location: John Tod Centre Main Club, 150 Wood St, Youth Room

Nights Alive is not offered in July and August, please join us for youth summer drop-in 

​

Daily Details: A meal is provided. Safe rides home are available for youth who live in the North Shore, Brocklehurst, and South Shore.

How to Register: To register, please fill out the Youth Membership Form and bring it to the John Tod Centre Club location.

WEEKDAY DROP-IN

BGC Kamloops provides a weekday drop in program for youth between 11-24 years of age. Our programs offer a variety of opportunities and activities led by qualified adult role models. Drop In offers structured programming (Life skills and Wellness) to gain meaningful life and social skills. Youth have access to our gymnasium & equipment, a kitchen, pool, ping pong, and foosball tables, board games, puzzles, video games, TV, art supplies, and more! Home-cooked meals and snacks are provided daily by our youth resource workers.

 

Location: John Tod Centre Main Club, 150 Wood St, Youth Room

Hours: September to June

For ages 11-24,  noon to 3pm, Monday through Friday

For ages 11-18, 3pm to 6pm, Monday through Thursday.

 

​July & August: For ages 11-19, 11am – 4pm Monday – Friday

​

Daily Details: All youth are welcome to attend the Club and come and go as they like. Homework help and an afterschool snack are provided. 

 

How to Register: To register, please fill out the Youth Membership Form and bring it to the John Tod Centre Club location. 

Life Skills

YOUTH LIFE SKILLS & DROP-IN WELLNESS

Life Skills is a free program that teaches youth between 11 and 24 years old valuable life skills such as healthy cooking and eating, mental health and wellness, team building, employment skills, and preparing them for life after high school.

Location: John Tod Centre Main Club, 150 Wood St., Youth Room

Hours: Life Skills: refer to our monthly calendar below.

One-on-one appointments: Youth 11-24 are welcome to schedule an appointment with our Youth Life Skills worker. 
 

Daily Details: Group programming focuses on structured activities and skills that involve wellness, making meals, and interpersonal skills such as team-building and communication. One-on-one programming helps youth achieve specific goals.

Drop-in Mindfulness and Wellness 

Mindfulness and Wellness activities are tactile activities that offer regulation through creativity and art. This is a safe place for youth to connect to the support they need. Youth have support making positive and healthy choices, access to the "Chill Room" and group programs, and connections to community resources brought into the Club. 

​

Location: Youth Room at John Tod Centre, 150 Wood St.

Drop-in Wellness

YOUTH NECESSITY NOOK

Our Youth Necessity Nook is a free service for youth ages 11-24. Once per week, youth can receive non-perishable food items, personal hygiene products, and household cleaning supplies. Reusable bags are available. 

 

Location: John Tod Centre Main Club, 150 Wood St., Youth Room

Hours: Mondays to Thursdays from noon to 6:00 PM

Fridays from 9:00 AM to 600 PM

Necessity Nook

SCHOOL OUTREACH

BGC Kamloops offers lunch hour outreach during school months at TREC, Norkam, Valleyview Secondary, and Brocklehurst Secondary. BGC Outreach Service Workers offer free snacks, hot & cold drinks, hygiene supplies, community resource information, and time with a safe adult if needed.

 

There are BGC Kamloops-branded fridges in Valleyview and TREC, filled weekly with packaged homemade meals and snacks for students to access barrier-free .

 

Location: TREC and Valleyview schools.

Hours: Please check back in September 2025 for dates and times

Daily Details: Access to food, drinks, & personal hygiene supplies.

Youth Outreach
Leadership Council

LEADERSHIP COUNCIL

The Youth Leadership Council encourages the development of leadership, cooperation, teamwork, employment, planning and organizational skills. 

 

Location: John Tod Centre Main Club, 150 Wood St, Youth Room

Hours: Please check back in September 2025 for dates and times

 

Daily Details: Youth Council meets during after-school drop-in hours to plan youth-related programming, events, and volunteer opportunities outside of regular Club hours. Nutritious snacks are provided. 

 

How to Register: There is a selection process to sit on the council to ensure a suitable fit. Please see our Youth Programs Leader for more information.

HARM REDUCTION

BGC Kamloops works from a harm reduction, strength-based, and attachement framework. Our harm reduction program aims to lessen the harms associated with substance abuse, food insecurity, housing insecurity, unsafe sex, and more. Services are offered by qualified and trained Outreach Service Workers, overseen by our Youth Services Team Lead and Youth Programs Manager, within the Kamloops Club and in the community.

​

BGC Kamloops is a registered site with the BCCDC to supply safe sex supplies and items to use substances as safely as possible. BGC Kamloops is also registered with Towards the Heart to provide Naloxone kits and training.

​

GAPP
(GANG ALTERNATIVES
PREVENTION PROGRAM)

The Gang Alternatives Prevention Program (GAPP) is a direct intervention and prevention program that provides wraparound support to youth aged 11-24. This support is unique to each client and can include actvities such as help with obtaining employment or housing, assistance with grocery shopping or obtaining ID, or just having a positive adult role model to help navigate the challenges of transitioning into adulthood.
